Why isn’t everyone using the PayPal Giving Fund for online donations? There are no fees. None. No processing fee. No transaction fee. No credit card fee. You only have to be a 501c3 and in good standing with the IRS to qualify. You work hard to encourage your organization’s supporters to donate, and using PayPal Giving Fund let’s you keep more of that money. Simple as that.
Razoo charges 7.9% of your money as a transaction fee. CrowdRise charges from 3.5% to 5%. LoveAnimals, Facebook (in some circumstances), YouCaring and GoFundMe don’t have transaction fees, but they still pass on those pesky credit card processing fees – fees that can range as high as 5% in some cases. Even if you’re using your own website to collect online donations, you still have to pay credit card fees.
Not with PayPal Giving Fund. PayPal Giving Fund is a registered non-profit that raises funds for charities using PayPal technology. There is no charge to sign up, you get your own donation page on their site, and they’re a charity – so they send the receipts and you don’t have to. Detailed donation information is available on your page’s Dashboard, and is available for download.
There are drawbacks – the funds are not available immediately. They are credited to your PayPal account monthly – which means it could be anywhere from 15-45 days before you have access to your funds, and donors do have the option to remain anonymous. So – use the PayPal Giving Fund for ongoing fundraising and something quicker for special occasions. You’re still saving money.
How else can totally eliminate credit card fess and truly realize 100% of every donation?
